About TLC's Graduate Course II

Mastering the Art of Storytelling in Trial

Learn how to craft and present powerful stories with psychodrama and TLC methods

Graduate Course II is an intensive one-week seminar that builds on the foundational principles of psychodrama and TLC methods you learned at the 3-week College. It is designed to help you develop advanced trial skills and a deeper understanding of story structure and storytelling in all phases of the trial. Whether working on a civil or criminal case, you will learn how to identify the essential elements of your client’s story and present them effectively during trials, hearings, mediations, and other crucial legal settings.

Graduate Course II is a highly collaborative and experiential course that offers a unique opportunity to work with top TLC faculty and special guests from the non-profit storytelling project The Moth. You will work in small groups with an 8:1 student-faculty ratio, and practice your skills on your own cases. You will receive constructive feedback and guidance from experienced TLC-trained trial lawyers and licensed, certified psychodramatists. By the end of the course, you will have a clear and powerful story that can inspire and persuade any audience.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Given the high cost of providing courses at easily accessible venues nationwide and those venues’ strict cancellation policies, TLC is no longer able to grant tuition refunds. To lessen the impact of this change in policy on our tribe, we offer the following options: 1) in the case a student needs to cancel, they can contact the Registrar with the name of a replacement student who is prepared to take their place, which is especially important to cover the cost of the pre-confirmed lodging. 2) If no replacement is found for their reserved spot prior in the program, we will apply 50% of the paid tuition as a credit toward a future program and use the other 50% toward the un-used lodging expense.

Texas Regional Course - Houston - 2024

This course is for those trial attorneys passionate about representing their clients. The TLC Texas Regional Course will teach trial attorneys how to conduct a powerful Cross-Examination in both the civil and criminal arena. The TLC Methods of Cross-Exam will teach how to tell the story of the client's case, but this time the lawyer becomes the principal storyteller. The TLC Method goes beyond the old method of the “controlled cross" but rather trains trial attorneys how to examine the motivations and forces that compel a witness’ testimony, often transforming a witness against the client into a witness for the client.
