California Regional Seminar 2019: Direct Examination

01/18/2019 - 01/20/2019

Aptos, California - Seascape Resort, Monterey Bay

About “The key to direct examination, as in every element of the trial, is ‘it all begins with you.’ Your job in direct exam is to help the witness effectively tell that part of the story the witness knows.” – Gerry Spence

In every element of the trial we are telling the client’s story. At our direct exam seminar, you will learn how to tell that story in new, powerful and dramatic ways with your own witnesses. TLC’s direct exam methods help you find your voice to bring their story to life so that your jury actually experiences and becomes a part of your client’s case. TLC-trained lawyers have proven time and again that if the jurors can better experience what the client has experienced, your chances of winning simply explode. Taught by a Trial Lawyer’s College accomplished faculty team of experienced trial attorneys, with at least a 6:1 student-faculty ratio, this course will be a “hands-on” experience. You will learn by doing, not by struggling through endless lectures. You will discover how your own unique power can forge an honest relationship with the jury and help you develop and deliver a winning direct exam in your most difficult cases. Join us and learn to avoid the pitfalls of a failed direct exam that can undermine your case; and instead, how to prepare and deliver a powerful direct exam to win justice for your client.

Location Luxury of a Resort with all the Comforts of a Beach Home

Located on the outer edge of San Francisco and San Jose, Monterey Bay is the ideal location for a TLC urban seminar. Take yourself away from the hustle and bustle of the city and emerge in the beach surroundings that circle Seascape Resort and that draw people in from around the world. Trial Lawyers College creates a space for lawyers to get out of their head and back into their heart, to regain the feelings of passion for their work, and to remember the reason they became a lawyer in the first place. We encourage you to leave your work at the office, leave your phone in your room, and allow the connections to build as you work on the methods of a powerful Direct Examination with colleagues, new friends, old friends, and other lawyers from across the nation.
