Alaska Regional Seminar 2021: Voir Dire
01/22/2021 - 01/24/2021
Girdwood, Alaska - Alyeska Resort
The Trial Lawyers College Voir Dire Seminar introduces you to a method of jury selection in which you will learn how to identify the danger points in your cases, to reframe them into points of power, and how to approach potential jurors as an inclusive, rather than exclusive, process. You will divide into small groups to work on your own cases where you will learn by doing, not by struggling through endless lectures. Join TLC’s faculty team of trial lawyers, behavioral and communication experts to learn how to become the leader of your tribe -- one composed of you and your jurors -- who together will win justice for your client.
Highway 1 out of Anchorage takes you along the coastline of the Turnagain Arm and aside the beautiful Chugach Mountains and Chugach State Park into the 'Last Frontier' of Girdwood, Alaska; host of the beautiful Alyeska Ski Resort. Take a step into the scaping snowcaps and allow yourself to embrace Alaska culture. The Trial Lawyers College chose this location as a top pick for one of our Constellation Regionals hoping to inspire creativity and curiosity, to let the mind be open, and to enjoy the wilderness at its purest while learning new methods to take with you to trial to help WIN your next case.
All Trial Lawyers College courses are taught by graduates of the College, who volunteer their time, talents and resources to provide high-quality training not offered in any other CLE program. Because our faculty are volunteers, and are actively practicing in their respective firms, our faculty list is subject to change.

Alyeska Resort is located 40 miles south of Anchorage, Alaska in the town of Girdwood. Convenient access is available at the modern Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
From the airport, take the scenic Seward Highway heading south. The Seward Highway was voted America's Most Outstanding Scenic Byway by Scenic America, a national conservation organization, in 1995 and by the US Department of Transportation in 2000.
The Seward Highway follows along the Turnagain Arm with many interpretative rest stops and view points. Depending on the season, it is not unusual to spot beluga whales or Dall sheep from your car window. Take the highway and look for signs to Girdwood, the home of Alyeska Resort. At the Tesoro Gas Station, take a left-hand turn and follow the Alyeska Highway for three miles. You will come to a "T" intersection - turn left and go one mile for The Hotel Alyeska. At the "T", turn right for Alyeska Resort's Daylodge and base area. Current Seward Highway road conditions.
