Growing. Supporting. Celebrating.

The Trial Lawyers College is committed to training a new breed of lawyer -- a warrior who has the courage to become a real person first, and who then has the heart to fight for justice in their own passionate voice.

Since its foundation in 1994, TLC has trained over 8,000 students in becoming better trial lawyers. TLC's flagship 3-week program is now held twice a year at Thunderhead Ranch in Dubois, Wyoming, with shorter TLC regional programs held nation-wide

As the Trial Lawyers College has continued to improve and grow, the need to extend our season and expand our teaching facilities has also grown. In 2014, the TLC board began discussing options for a new facility to be constructed on our Thunderhead Ranch campus.

The Gerry Spence Education Center at Thunderhead Ranch

The Gerry Spence Education Center will add additional classrooms and a theater to the Thunderhead Ranch campus in an open, airy floor plan that allows for flexible use of interior space. The facility is designed to complement the sweeping vistas of the ranch and carefully sited to preserve the view of the iconic Big Barn. The central corridor of the building will serve as an exhibit hall, providing historical context for the founding principles of the Trial Lawyer's College through the collected writings, artwork and lectures of its founder, Gerry Spence.

The Center's theater and courtyards will celebrate the successes of TLC graduates, the living legacy of the College, in winning justice for those who are lost, forgotten, injured and damned.

The historic character of Thunderhead Ranch is an essential part of the Trial Lawyer's College experience. We will continue to conduct classes in the original ranch buildings including the Big Barn, Johnson Barn, milk barn and the rec room as we have since 1994. We will also continue to invest in and maintain all our ranch facilities to ensure a comfortable, authentic ranch experience for future generations of trial lawyers.

The Gerry Spence Education Center will primarily be dedicated to additional teaching space. Eight additional classrooms will allow us to accommodate more students and extend our teaching season by up to 2 months each year.

The theater will house recorded works and archived teachings from TLC's founder, faculty, and alumni. The facility will also expand options and space available for communication skills and personal psychodrama work.

Exhibits located throughout the Education Center will include artworks, writings, and videos that illustrate the inception and founding intention for the College, while providing a forum for the growing body of work of TLC alumni.

The courtyards surrounding the Education Center will acknowledge the significant wins of TLC alumni through commemorative rock and native plant gardens. These areas will also serve as flexible space for class work and discussion.
